Job Description

Post Title:   Health Visitor Band 7 / Trainee Health Visitor
Location:      Inverness

Hours:           37.5 hours per week
Duration:      Permanent
Salary:          Qualified Health Visitor - £40,872 - £47,846 p.a.
                    Trainee Health Visitor – see Agenda for Change Annex 21 terms (Pay
                    determined as a percentage of the pay for qualified staff)

Salary placing will normally be at the respective first points of the scale.

Job Purpose: The main role for the Health Visitor (HV) is to be the designated named HV for all Children within their caseload from antenatal to school entry age, excluding the unborn child. This requires the HV to commence the Childs planning process. To discharge these responsibilities the post holder will have a responsibility to monitor the child’s wellbeing and assess if a need is identified they will work in partnership with the child’s family and all involved agencies to produce a child’s plan which will require to 
be monitored. 
In discharging these responsibilities the post holder is responsible and accountable for maintaining clinical, staff and information governance.

Re the annex 21 status. This now means that nurses are employed as Health Visitors  ‘in training’ and paid a percentage of the top of band 7 as detailed below - 
The annex 21 situation is
3. For trainees covered by paragraph 2(iii), where periods of training last for between one and four years, pay will be adjusted as follows:
(i) up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate;
(ii) more than one but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70 per cent of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate;
(iii) more than two but less than three years prior to completion of training: 65 per cent of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate;
(iv) more than three years from completion of training: 60 per cent of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate.

Requirements

Registered nurse or midwife at degree level or equivalent.
Post-registration qualification in Health Visiting/Public Health Nursing and be registered on Part 3 of the NMC register.
