As part of Inverclyde Council’s ‘Inverclyde Works’ recruitment and training drive, we are inviting applications for our Modern Apprentice (MA) Programme for Inverclyde residents who have a keen interest in Science and working in a Science Technicians department in an Inverclyde Secondary School.

Successful applicants will be employed on a fixed term 2 year contract, working 37 hours per week, and will work towards attainment of the SCQF Level 7 Life Sciences and Related Industries qualification. The successful candidate will be expected to comply with all health and safety and child protection procedures, and must commit to meeting agreed timescales and targets in relation to attaining the qualification within 2 years. The annual salary is £14,275.

Applicants must have, or be expecting to achieve, National 5 English and 2 Higher qualifications at grade C or above in either Biology, Human Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Maths (or equivalent to SCQF Level 6), or have completed a relevant Foundation Apprenticeship. In addition, you must be willing to work towards the necessary training and qualifications required to undertake the duties of your post.

  • Having good numeracy skills.
  • Having the ability to work accurately and give attention to detail.
  • Being able to work well within a team, knowing when to ask for assistance/guidance.
  • Being confident in the use of IT, including Word and Excel.
  • Being able to plan and organise workload efficiently and effectively.
  • Being flexible in your approach to work.

This post requires a successful Disclosure Scotland check via Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.
