St David’s High School Dalkeith is looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic permanent Learning Assistant to work of part of a team supporting our pupils, as directed by appropriate teaching staff.
Our current roll stands at around 750 drawn from the towns and villages across Midlothian and from Musselburgh and south Edinburgh. We have a high number of placing requests every year from families who are attracted by the caring and inclusive ethos of the school, built on our ASPIRE values of Achievement, Service, Perseverance, Inclusion, Respect and Excellence. Our students are our greatest assets and we are very proud of their successes and achievements, particularly their consistently outstanding SQA Exam attainment and our very positive Education Scotland Inspection.

Evidence of basic literacy and numeracy at Standard Grade General level or SVQ2 in Early Years Care and Education, or National Certificate unit in Childcare & Education, or equivalent competency, to enable the jobholder to communicate effectively with staff and pupils, and provide sensitive support.
The jobholder must be familiar with child development and able to respond to the needs of individual pupils. Jobholders should have previous experience of working in this field of work.
To be fully competent in the role jobholders will be required to undertake addition training courses e.g. first aid, calm techniques etc.

Based on you working 33.08 hours over 39 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £16,732.25 per annum.
