To assist in the management and maintenance of the Speyside Way, Moray Coast Trail and linking Core Paths and other identified separate likely hotspots in Moray i.e. Millbuies Country Park, The Wards Nature Site (Elgin), Califer Hill Viewpoint, Ben Rinnes and Loch Oire. The duties carried out will focus on the sections of the 2 strategic routes and the other identified separate hotspots under greatest pressure from increased visits resulting from relaxation of Covid 19 restrictions during 2021.
Undertake Ranger duties at key locations along the Speyside Way and Moray Coast Trail, linking paths and other identified separate hotspots under the greatest pressure from increased visits resulting from relaxation of Covid 19 restrictions to minimise adverse impacts on these locations and the natural heritage.
Promote awareness and understanding of the natural heritage and the concept of responsible public access as outlined in the Scottish Outdoor Access Code (SOAC)
Undertake and co-ordinate maintenance of the Speyside Way, Moray Coast Trail, linking paths and other identified separate hotspots focussing on the locations experiencing the greatest pressures due to increase in useage resulting from relaxation of Covid 19 restrictions.
Feedback and monitoring of measures and activities through face to face surveys of users and targeted surveys of key stakeholders.
Ensure high standards of Health and Safety are met and maintained.
Previous experience as a Countryside Ranger and/or previous experience in countryside maintenance work.
Proven experience using Word/Excel/email.
Demonstrable knowledge of countryside management and grounds maintenance.
Sound knowledge of wildlife and countryside matters and countryside legislation.
Proven ability to problem solve.
Ability to communicate successfully with members of the public.
Willingness to learn new skills and extend knowledge.
Expertise in the use of a wide range of hand and power tools for the maintenance of countryside features.
You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various locations within Moray. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.
Ability to work unsupervised.
Willingness to accept direction/delegation.
Manual and physical dexterity for working out of doors.
Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.
