Job Description

Manage waste collection, disposal and treatment, open spaces, burial services, cleaning, catering and janitorial services to deliver efficient, effective best value services  ensuring the provision of an appropriate customer focused response 

Requirements

Manage and lead the following service activities: waste collection, disposal and treatment, lands and parks, burial services, cleaning, catering and janitorial services.

Develop service strategies and plans for relevant service areas.

Provide strategic direction inline with the Council’s corporate objectives

Ensure that relevant services are delivered efficiently, effectively and safely with appropriate customer focus.

Maintain budgetary control, service standards, monitoring and review to ensure that financial and service targets are set and monitored.

Liaison with other Council sections, external bodies, suppliers, consultants and developers.

Member of the Environmental & Commercial Services Management Team and other internal and external Working Groups.

When necessary, deputise for the Head of Environmental & Commercial Services.

An exciting and challenging opportunity exists to make a real difference in Moray.   The role of Environmental Protection Manager has arisen.   Are you passionate about delivering quality services?   Do you have experience of delivering any or all ofthe following services:   Waste Collection, Disposal and Treatment, Open Spaces, Burial Services, Cleaning, Catering and Janitorial Services.

The roleis responsible for managing a wide range of service activities including Waste Collection, disposal and treatment.  Open Spaces, Burial Services, Building Cleaning, Catering and Janitorial Services to deliver efficient, best value services ensuring the provision of an appropriate customer focused response.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working in a local government
environment, with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience inat least one of the
service areas, together with well-developed skills and experience in delivery of customer
services.  Ideally you will be a Chartered in an appropriate discipline.

Situated in the north east of Scotland and just 6 miles from the beach at Lossiemouth and the beautiful Moray Firth coast, Elgin is home to our headquarters.  Elgin is centrally placed between Inverness (40 miles) and Aberdeen (65 miles) which are both served by easily accessed international airports. Moray benefits from good road links via the A96 and A941/A95 and a regular train service puts the rest of Scotland within easy reach.

Stunning seascapes of the Moray Firth populated by dolphins, rolling hills for walking or skiing, bustle-free shopping, and a micro-climate that's the driest in Scotland there is no doubt that Moray has a lot to offer.
