The Building Standards team deals with all aspects of the Building Standards function including carrying out building warrant assessments, site inspections and dealing with dangerous buildings. In addition, there is a strong working relationship with the wider Built Environment team. You will have an in-depth knowledge of building regulations and all other legislation allied to the Building Standards function together with varied experience and an understanding of the construction industry. Along with good IT skills, you must have the ability to achieve solutions to design related problems.

You will be educated to Degree level in a Building Standards related discipline, or equivalent, with significant Local Authority experience in a Building Standards section. Full membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) is an essential requirement for our Building Standards Surveyor post and a desirable requirement for the Building Standards Officer post.
