An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a pivotal role leading and managing the North Lanarkshire Council response to planned changes and upgrades to the Education Management Information System (SEEMiS). Currently within North Lanarkshire the SEEMiS suite of products and modules supports the delivery of key statutory and management information to 170 educational establishments and headquarters functions.

SEEMiS is currently being upgraded to a cloud based product. As a result there will be significant changes to the number/type of modules available to Councils, and in the interface between SEEMiS and Council systems. For example within North Lanarkshire new solutions will be required in activities such as provision of school budget/financial management, administration of music tuition and nursery admissions.

The postholder will develop and implement the Service’s strategic and operational response to these system changes to ensure school and headquarters staff can continue to access and provide key data and management information. A further requirement for the postholder will be to consider and evaluate the potential impact on existing staff of proposed system changes and the resultant requirement and implementation of a training and support programme. The postholder will also have to ensure proposed changes to current service provision are in alignment with the Council’s wider Digital NL programme.  

You will be a solutions focussed, creative thinker as you will be responsible for setting out project execution strategies and identifying and delivering on business needs. You will require excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills, and experience of working across services and inter-agency working. Educated or working towards a Degree Level qualification, you will have project management knowledge and experience, and experience of delivering new or replacement system upgrades. It is desirable that you have experience in SEEMiS applications or other schools information systems. In addition you will have knowledge of corporate governance and procurement practices in the public sector, financial planning experience involving both revenue and capital commitments, and experience of developing and implementing training plans.

Whilst your administrative base with be Motherwell Civic, you will predominantly be expected to work from home as per current Scottish Govt guidelines at this time.
