You will be reporting to the Head Teacher
Your working pattern is Monday to Friday. We are happy to talk flexible working, where possible.
The purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality learning and teaching that enables children to thrive academically, socially and emotionally within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
The successful candidate will support our upper primary children to develop the knowledge, skills, attributes and confidence they need for learning, life and work, while fostering curiosity, creativity and a love of learning. Working within Orkney’s unique island context on Stronsay, the postholder will contribute to a caring school community where positive relationships, wellbeing and achievement are at the heart of school life. The role involves working collaboratively with colleagues, families, partners and the wider community to ensure that all children are supported to achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, high-quality learning experiences across the curriculum, ensuring appropriate challenge, support and progression for all learners. The role includes assessing and tracking children’s progress, using evidence to inform next steps in learning, and supporting children’s attainment, achievement and wellbeing. The postholder will create a calm, positive and inclusive learning environment, build strong relationships with children and families, and work effectively with colleagues and partner agencies to meet learners’ needs. They will contribute to whole-school improvement priorities and play an active role in the wider life of the school and community, helping to ensure the best possible outcomes for all children.
You must be registered, or in the process of registering, with the General Teaching Council for Scotland.
Salary will be based on the Main Grade of the SNCT Salary Tables plus a Distant Islands Allowance and Remote Islands Allowance.

This post is a regulated role with children and requires Level 2 Disclosure with PVG scheme membership.
