We are seeking a temporary IT Technician for two years in the first instance. This post will specifically support the effective implementation of the Education, Leisure and Housing service Digital Culture: e-Learning project. The post holder will be responsible for the development and operation of video conference systems across school establishments, for the performance of operations tasks for a variety of computer systems, and for resolving (or referring) hardware and software problems encountered by system users.
Orkney Islands Council is currently reviewing the way it delivers its services and strong, effective and responsive ICT is fundamental to the success of this work. The ability to diagnose hardware and software problems, and to quickly resolve them or refer them to other IT staff or third-party maintenance services is essential, as is recent experience of supporting IS/IT systems. It is also important for the candidate to have excellent communication and analytical skills.

The ability to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the service is essential.
