Senior Finance Assistant (Revenues)

A vacancy has arisen within the Finance Service for a Senior Finance Assistant to join the Revenues and Benefits Team.

You will work at the Council Offices, Kirkwall, within a small office-based team responsible for dealing with all aspects of administering and collecting debts owed to the Council – predominantly Council Tax, but also including other debts.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer-focused individual. You will be working in a busy environment which will call upon you to respond quickly to changing priorities and will also be a trusted team member in often highly confidential and sensitive matters. You should have previous experience of dealing with the public and an understanding of revenues systems and procedures.

We are looking for someone who has an SCQF Level 5 or equivalent qualification (SQA Standard Grades or National 5), or a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working in a relevant role.

The postholder will be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme which is a career average revalued earnings (CARE) defined benefit scheme for which the employer contribution paid is currently 17% representing a benefit from £3,763 to £4,073 in addition to the salary paid.
