Burial Operative (PKC05851)
£18,301 - £19,952 (37 hours/week)
Friarton Depot, Friarton Road, Perth

Working as a member of a burial team, your duties will directly involve all aspects of burial duties. You must have experience of burial, safe systems of work and the operation of power tools and plant. Experience in mechanical diggers is essential.

You will receive burial instructions and efficiently organise and complete these, ensuring that all burial functions are carried out to a high quality, to IBCA standards and on time. This will involve scatterings and interments of ashes on a routine basis, lair excavation, backfilling, funeral attendance and any other routine squad task. You will ensure that all works are performed in compliance with appropriate risk assessments and health and safety requirements.

When needed, you will assist in all other ground maintenance tasks including operation of grass cutting equipment, sports pitch maintenance, hedge cutting, chemical spraying and trailer towing. The operation of other equipment includes inspection, routine maintenance and cleaning which will require the use and operation of the usual range of associated tools and equipment including powered tools and light equipment and assisting in any work carried out by The Environment Service. You will participate in on the job training and tool box talks as required. You must be capable of carrying out the physical demands of the post and to communicate effectively with team members and the public.

The Environment Service works under ‘new ways of working’ which is a variable shift system and may involving weekend working and to work on a standby basis in rotation with other staff. This post is a 4 day week working 37 hours.

To be successful, you must hold a current C1 + E driving licence, Mini Digger (360), CPC Card and a Digital Tachograph Card and be aware of Road Transport Regulations. You will bring a positive energy and have the ability to work well as part of a team.
