The Scottish Government announced that by August 2020 all 3-5 year olds, and eligible 2 year olds will be entitled to 1140 hours per year of funded (free) early learning and childcare in Scotland. This is being rolled out using a phased approach across Perth and Kinross, details of this is available in our phasing plan [274Kb].
As part of the expansion for early years, this is a fantastic opportunity to secure a permanent Early Childhood Practitioner role within Perth & Kinross Council. These roles are available in a variety of settings and locations across Perth and Kinross, on a term time or 45 week model basis. Part time and full time hours are available.
Our aim is to provide child-centred Early Learning and Childcare (aged 2-5 years) which reflects and responds to individual needs and identity.
Ability to work in a team situation is essential and a flexible approach to working with young children and parents is required.
You should hold or be working towards an appropriate qualification e.g.SVQ 3 Social Services (Children and Young People), as well as have the eligibility to register with SSSC. If you are currently studying for this qualification there is an expectation that this will be completed by June 2020.
