An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Electrical Technician, Building services within Perth & Kinross Council. There are two posts and these will form part of the Energy and Engineering Team within Property Services which is responsible for the provision of a wide range of building related services to public buildings. The roles have been created to allow for the council to enhance its digital learning experience throughout the educational estate and for Property Services to support its frontline IT services to allow this to be achieved.

The posts allow the phased upgrade of the Council’s IT infrastructure and Audio-visual network. This involves the post holders taking a lead role in the design, procurement and project management of all works associated with the project. The roles will require co-ordination of all electrical, IT infrastructure and building related works within the council’s operational buildings. The works are anticipated to be carried out during normal working hours; however there may be instances when the post holders will be required to work out with these hours to minimise disruption to IT services.There is also an expectation that the postholder will work on other Electrical Infrastructure projects such as replacement /new electrical systems including, distribution systems, small power installations, fire alarm, intruder alarms, lighting and associated controls. An additional part of the role will be the requirement to meet future energy savings targets and have the ability to incorporate new and low carbon technologies into all designs and proposals providing a cost effective energy efficient solution.

We are looking for an individual who has design and project management experience relating to the specific Electrical Engineering discipline. To undertake the role we require excellent planning and organisational skills along with the ability to complete and implement projects within target deadlines. Must be capable of developing innovative design solutions and provide Technical support. Self-motivated and confident with excellent communication skills to establish good working relationships. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team of Property Professionals you will engage effectively with a wide and diverse audience including Technical and non-Technical. Some supervisory skills are required for mentoring junior members of staff.

The Individual

It is expected that the individual will be suitably qualified, have membership of a Professional or Trade body and have knowledge in the use of computer aided design packages such as Relux, Dialux, AMTECH, AutoCAD and REVIT MEP.
