Job Description

Housing Assistant, Letham Locality (PKC06189)
£8,867 - £9,985 (16 hours/week) - Fixed Term (Until 01.02.2022)
Letham Area Office, Tweedsmuir Road, Perth PH1 2HJ

Within the Letham Locality Team, but on occasion being required to work from other localities, you will assist in providing a comprehensive housing management service to our customers. This post involves liaison with a wide range of contacts including staff, other Council services, external agencies, customers, tenant representatives and elected members. You'll provide housing information and advice, provide reception and cash collection services within the locality office, manage correspondence and maintain records relating to our housing management services. You'll also be giving administrative support to Housing Officers including typing letters and other documentation, including paperwork to support sign ups for properties, as well as arranging customer appointments, meetings, filing etc. You'll monitor tenant's rent accounts and be able to provide assistance and advice to maximise tenants incomes as well as arrange and monitor repayment plans for rent and arrears. This will also include assisting with the Verification Framework for Housing Benefit, supporting applications for Universal Credit etc. The role will also require you to enter information on to our Northgate system, accurately and timeously and retrieve this information as required. You will need to carry out home visits in relation to a number of our housing management services. As a Housing Assistant you will act as a liaison with the Housing Officers and Repairs Inspectors in managing void properties, rent accounts, tenant repairs etc. to ensure support is provided and rent loss is minimised. At all times, the role will require you to provide a high quality customer focused service ensuring the Council's Customer Care standards are met, behaving at all times with honesty, integrity and self-respect.

 

The Individual

You must be computer literate with proven IT skills in Microsoft Office Applications as well as experience of using computer databases and management systems. You will be keen to learn, have a positive and can-do attitude and be adaptable to change. Listening skills with a view to providing excellent Customer Service Standards, aiming to exceed customer expectations is paramount and to identifying problems and solutions to help both customers and colleagues is essential. You must be flexible and have an ability to manage and prioritise your own workload as well as work well within a team to support colleagues and meet outcomes and expectations.  You must be able to deal sensitively and tactfully with customers and colleagues alike and understand the need to adapt your approach to meet the needs of individuals. A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work is needed as this post requires you to travel to a number of locations across Perth and Kinross.

CIH Level 3 Certificate/Diploma in Housing Practice or National Homepoint Standard Level 2 (or equivalent) is preferred but not essential.
