Energy and Engineering Team, Pullar House, 35 Kinnoull Street, Perth
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the posts of Professional Trainee within Perth & Kinross Council. The posts will form part of the Energy and Engineering Team within Property Services which is responsible for the provision of a wide range of building related services to public buildings within Perth and Kinross. The posts are entry level, mainly office based and will allow individuals to gain knowledge and experience through work-based learning combined with Academic qualifications in an Engineering related discipline. The successful candidates will be enrolled on a Suitable NC, HN or Degree Course dependant on qualifications and experience on entry.
The roles are varied and following a suitable period of training and development the individuals will be involved in assisting with designs, project management, energy management and monitoring for new build or refurbishment projects within existing properties such as schools, libraries, leisure centres, Council houses and all other public buildings. There are three specific roles, one covering each of the Engineering disciplines of Electrical, Mechanical and Energy.
Some of the specific projects the individuals will be involved in will include new heating, water services and ventilation systems. Processing and verifying energy invoices and Improving Energy and Building Management Systems for increased reduction in energy consumption. New electrical systems including, distribution systems, small power installations, fire alarm, intruder alarms, LED lighting and associated controls.
An additional part of the role will be the requirement to meet the Council’s future energy savings targets and assist in the incorporation of new and low carbon technologies such as heat pumps or photovoltaics into designs and proposals to provide a cost-effective energy efficient solution.
To aid in this process the successful candidates will have the opportunity to use computer aided design packages such as IES, AutoCAD, REVIT MEP, Energy Management and Building Management software.
We are looking for individuals who have a keen interest in the areas of Energy, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and are looking for a career within the industry.
It is anticipated that the individuals should be self-motivated and confident with excellent communication skills to establish good working relationships.
