Friarton Depot, Friarton Road, Perth PH2 8DF
You will provide an invaluable service to Perth and Kinross Council and the residents of the area. You will work as part of a small squad or as a lone worker when required, and will assist the lead hand with any tasks required by the service. You will comply with the safe systems of work for your role. This role operates on a shift pattern and the contracted shift pattern is Monday to Thursday (36 hours). You will also be expected to be available to work on a standby basis, which will include working outside of your normal hours and being part of a standby rota. Works covered on standby are usually planned in advance but may also be unforeseeable so you may be required to be available at short notice. This is an opportunity for you to provide a vital service to the community. You will have contact with members of the public and will act as a representative of the Council. You will have the opportunity to participate in on-the-job training and your continuous development will be encouraged and supported throughout your career with Perth & Kinross Council. As an employee, you will have access to a wide range of rewards and benefits such as receiving a generous annual leave entitlement, automatic membership of our pension scheme (unless you choose to opt out) and many more.
To be successful in this role, you will be physically fit and be prepared to work with heavy loads over rough ground in all weathers. You should have a basic knowledge and experience within the building trade as the role involves laying slabs, repairing brick walls and fencing. You should also have knowledge and experience in the use of power tools and small plant (mini digger) and associated items. A valid UK C1E Licence is essential. CPC and plant/building qualifications would be desirable.
