Perth & Kinross Council is seeking an HGV Chargehand Mechanic within Fleet Management. You must have knowledge, skills and experience in the repair & maintenance of heavy goods and light vehicles as you will be responsible for ensuring that the Councils fleet of vehicles is maintained to both DVSAs and Perth & Kinross Council standards. Experience of managing staff and a shifts workload will be advantageous for this role.

Successful candidates who have been short listed will be required to complete a practical workshop assessment.

You must be a time served Motor Vehicle Mechanic or Technician, and preferably have experience of the repair & maintenance of commercial vehicles, heavy plant and equipment and a working knowledge of hydraulic repairs. Holding a UK LGV C+E licence would be advantageous. You may be required to carry out MOT & Taxi Testing duties if holding the qualification or be willing to achieve these skills through training. You will have City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 or N/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent level of certification and the ability to work within a pressured environment. Being able to meet own and team deadlines is vital.
