Role Purpose

To assist in the supervision of works to a given programme carried out by Scottish Borders Council Roads and Infrastructure surfacing squads.
Assist in the planning & organisation of the surfacing squads in order that operations can be completed to the works programme
Calculate and order materials required and bring forward to site as required.

Scottish Borders Council are looking to appoint a skilled chargehand to work as part of a surfacing squad based in Newtown St Boswells. The successful candidate will have substantial experience of current road resurfacing operations and requirements.
Within our Asset and Infrastructure service, SBc Contracts and Roads Operations encompass a range of highly visible front line services. This job requires the post holder to deliver Services throughout the year.

Essential

Appropriate CSCS Card
SVQ Level 2 Roadbuilding
SSSTS certificate or willing to achieve within 2 years

Minimum of 5 years experience of road resurfacing operations
Experience of working within a construction environment.
Experience of working with sub-contractors.
Experience and knowledge of Health & Safety requirements in a relevant environment.
