As Chief Internal Auditor, you will have direct responsibility for our Internal Audit function and that of associated partner bodies. You will also support the Corporate Leadership Team and Services to deliver continuous improvement and efficiencies.
What is the role?
To lead and manage the Council’s Internal Audit Service, to ensure compliance with all statutory and external regulations, including audit and inspection requirements, Council Standing Orders, Financial Regulations and other relevant internal procedures.
The specific areas of responsibility will be determined by the Council’s priorities, with the principal accountabilities outlined below:
- Internal Audit and Corporate Fraud
- Chief Internal Auditor for the South Ayrshire Integration Joint Board
- Report to Audit and Governance Panel on the Internal Audit Plan
- Preparation of the Risk Based Annual Plan

The Grade of this post is Grade 5 / Level 15, the hourly rate is from £30.34 to £31.25 and the annual salary is from £55,370 to £57,031. This is a politically restricted post.
