Job Description

Chief Social Work Officer

South Ayrshire Council has created a new post of Chief Social Work Officer which presents an opportunity for a forward thinking candidate to have a pivotal role in developing professional social work practice and standards. It is the first post of this type in Scotland and provides an excellent platform for developing professional social work practice.

It is an exciting time to join the South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership as we work to enhance our leadership capacity and drive improvement activities that make a difference for people across South Ayrshire.

We’re looking for a leader who will build on the progress we’ve made in establishing our key vision and actions to improve outcomes for children and adults, and embrace the opportunities and challenges to ensure we deliver on our ambitions for families and communities.

Our vision is to work together for the best possible health and wellbeing of our communities, and this role will play a part in working collaboratively and creatively to reduce inequalities and contribute to the significant positive development of children’s and adult’s social work services.

Working with colleagues across services and reporting to the Director of Health & Social Care, you will be responsible for the development of social work practice and standards, with a strong emphasis on collaborative working with partners, families and communities.

The Grade of this post is Grade 5 /Level 7 and the salary is from £61,539 to £63,364 and is politically restricted under section2 of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
