A position has arisen in our arboricultural team for a forward looking, self motivated and confident Aboricultural Assistant.

By exercising autonomy within certain boundaries, you will have the ability to undertake a range of non-routine and complex tasks with the responsibility for helping to plan work activities involving management and allocation of resources.
You will deal with all arboricultural related enquiries, inspect, specify and price work for internal clients and review planning enquiries for Tree Preservation Orders. You will be responsible for daily running and supervision of the arboricultural teams. You will ensure work is carried out in compliance with best practice, Council Policies and Health and safety Legislation and have the ability to provide operational guidance to the arboricultural team as and when required.

Experience and training in the inspection, risk assessment and proactive management of trees
An awareness and experience in the application of BS 3998:2010, BS 5837:2012, NJUG 4 and legislation relating to trees/woodlands
Knowledge of, or experience in, the management of veteran trees. An understanding of nature conservation issues, and protected species legislation relating to Arboriculture and trees
You will have good communication, people skills and must be able to deal with challenging situations using tact and diplomacy.
A qualification in Arboriculture to at least Level 3/4 (National Qualification Framework) or above with extensive experience in surveying and assessment
Professional Tree Inspection Certificate or the level of experience to pass this in the near future
You must have the ability to travel throughout South Lanarkshire.
