Job Description

Location: Forrest Street Depot, Blantyre

A permanent position has arisen for an Arborcultural Operative - Climbing (Arboriculture Team) within Community Services.

We are looking for an experienced Arborist climber who values working as part of a specialist team and has a strong drive for excellent service and tree care.

You will have the ability to confidently undertake a range of Arboricultural climbing tasks and an active interest in best practice and professional development.

Working as part of a two/three person team you will undertaking various types of work from crown lifting, thinning, and reshaping, to tree dismantling and felling of small and large trees. You will help manage the work site and ensuring it is safe and efficient. Works will be in compliance with best practice, Council Policies and Health and Safety Legislation.

Candidates must be qualified to CS30, CS31, CS32, CS 39, and CS40. Some training may be available to the right candidate.

Other desirable qualifications are CS33, CS34, CS35, CS41, CS47, MEWP Static boom cat 1b, CS48 and evidence of training in first aid.

A driving licence to B+E/C1+E/C and the ability to tow is also desirable.

The candidate must have a willingness to attend out of hour’s emergencies.

Conduct crown lifting of a tree whilst ensuring that health and safety is adhered to in terms of their own safety and members of the public.

Removing medium to large trees from open spaces from ground level and grinding out tree stump.

Removing single and multiple windblown trees from woodland, open spaces and domestic properties.

Conduct the aerial dismantling of a tree using appropriate PPE and arbour equipment whilst assessing the tree for potential decay and ensuring that European directives are not breached.

Carrying out the felling of a small tree within a domestic garden or open space from the ground level and dispose of this in the appropriate manner

Assess own climbing kit and equipment they are using prior to ensure it is fit for purpose.
