Job Description

This post is subject to job evaluation and there is a Local Government pay award pending, salary band circa £48,250 to £52,776, to be confirmed.

West Dunbartonshire Council is seeking a strong and motivational leader to join its Facilities Management service.

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the design, delivery and management of an effective and efficient FM service incorporating cleaning, catering and janitorial services. The postholder will have oversight of day-to-day operations supported by a dedicated team of over 500 employees across our schools, early learning centres and operational buildings. With employees across multiple locations, a key task will be inspiring and engaging the team, with a focus on wellbeing, as well as fostering partnerships particularly within our education service. In addition our new manager will take ownership of the budgeting process, ensuring full compliance with statutory regulations and also identifying and embracing new opportunities to enhance the service.

Providing leadership and vision, the postholder will use their previous experience of developing and managing a team and track record in delivering first class customer service to drive FM forward with a focus on continuous improvement.

With excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for cultivating teamwork across the service and Council, the ideal candidate will be solution focused and also have experience of managing change and embracing digital technology to deliver high quality services. Adept at managing competing priorities, the postholder will also recognise the importance of collaboration, developing strong relationships with internal and external customers, and keeping pace with both policy, legislation and best practice.
