Job Description

THIS POST IS A RE-ADVERTISEMENT. (previous applicants need not re-apply)

West Dunbartonshire Council – Be the Best:

In this challenging era we must continue to strengthen our approach to managing our services and resources, performance management and partnership working and be at the forefront of driving economic, social and environmental sustainability.  As part of this strategy, the Corporate Procurement Unit (CPU) are recruiting a Senior Procurement Officer and we want to hear from you on how you will be an asset to an already great team:

Michelle joined the CPU in October 2015 as a Procurement Developments Assistant where she supported on purchasing systems.  Michelle was promoted to the position of Procurement Officer in January 2020 where she has worked on a number of projects which support the Council’s Strategic Plan and Service Area Delivery Plans:
“I worked on various purchasing systems as well as sourcing supplies and utilising framework agreements which gave me transferrable skills into the contracts side of procurement.  Working on the Provision of Corporate Taxi’s project was a great experience for me as it helped build on my skills and knowledge within my role as well as building relationships with various stakeholders.  Over the past six years I have thoroughly enjoyed working within a team that support and encourage one another.”

After experience in the private and third sector, Angus joined the CPU in 2016 as a Procurement Officer. He was then promoted to a Senior Procurement Officer and is now managing his own team:
I was quickly welcomed into the CPU and was encouraged and supported through my journey from officer to manager. Seeing the positive benefits to local citizens and businesses is a real driver.  I have been able to forge strong working relationships with the CPU, other service areas and external stakeholders.  The team spirit and “One Council” vision allows you to progress projects with the same common goal - to deliver the best services at the best value for our citizens.”

Laura recently joined the CPU as a Senior Procurement Officer:
“I have discovered that my skills and experience are transferrable from my time working in the private sector.  Having previously worked as part of a smaller team, I am enjoying working in a larger team with exposure to large capital projects such as the innovative City Deal project. It is very rewarding to know that my involvement in the delivery of this project will benefit the community and assist in the economic growth of the local area in the medium and long term.”
