To assist in recording and monitoring of information in the provision of an effective Fleet Management service comprising of fleet maintenance frontline activities, driver management, tachograph analysis, hires management and other statutory Operators Licence activities, as well as all aspects of technical and support functions within the Service Unit.

Working within the Asset & Compliance Team you will assist the Asset & Compliance Manager in the delivery of the team’s functions as outlined from the services management plan, operational activities and statutory duties.

There will be a requirement to provide data support on fleet and driver related matters and to work in close partnership with other council services and external partners.

The post holder will be required to contribute to the service commitment to Quality Assurance, Customer Service Excellence, West Lothian Assessment Model (WLAM), Investors in People, DVSA compliance returns, APSE data and other business and performance management initiatives.

The skills and experience you must have:

  • Qualified to SVQ Level 3 in Business & Administration or similar qualification or equivalent experience.
  • The ability to interpret legislation, codes of practice and follow guidelines in relation to the terms, conditions and undertakings of the Councils Goods Vehicle Licensing Operators Licence.
  • Ability to communicate well in written, spoken and electronic formats.
  • Understanding of regulations and requirements pertaining to fleet management and vehicle use.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle/driver legislation and codes of practice.
  • Experience of working in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate well in written, spoken and electronic formats.
  • Proficient in the use of all Microsoft applications (Word, Excel PowerPoint).
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
