The post is based within the Advice Shop where the successful candidate will work to promote Income maximisation and alleviate poverty through advice and advocacy in the areas of welfare benefits/appeals, money/housing and energy advice.
By working alongside homeless prevention teams, throughcare/aftercare, third sector partners and education to support young people to become financially resilient. This will include developing and participating in SQA modules to be delivered in the next academic year to identified young people. The main aim of this role is to support young people who have been asked to leave home.
This role will provide a targeted service to this group and work alongside a range of community planning partners and whilst working in partnership ensuring that the customer is at the centre of a high-quality advice service.
The successful candidate will also assist in the development of this service and help with targeted campaigns to this group through the delivery of talks, training and presentations.
Experience giving money/debt, benefits, energy or housing advice is essential. A high level of research and analytical skills and experience in organising events and delivering talks and presentations is desirable.
The skills and experience you must have:
- Knowledge of income maximisation and/or expenditure minimisation
- Experience of providing advice and advocacy in a customer facing role
- Experience of project development and/or management
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to use computerised record management systems to keep accurate customer records
