Dechmont Infant School is a non-denominational school serving the community of Dechmont. It is part of the Broxburn Academy Cluster. The school roll is 26 organised into one the primary 1 to 3 with 14 chidlren in the Early Learning Centre.
The shared school senior leadership team comprises of the Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher and one Principal Teachers. The school office is staffed by a clerical assistant. Currently the PT has line management responsibility for the ELC.
Our mission statement supports our approach to developing the four capacities within Curriculum for Excellence and to support every learner in their wellbeing and development. All pupils have access to ELC provision Monday to Thursday 8am until 4pm throughout the term. We strive to do all we can to ensure that our children receive an excellent education. We encourage children to find pleasure in learning and playing together, to understand, respect and value the different cultures and backgrounds that enrich our school and its community.
Dechmont Infant School is well supported by our parents. Parents work in close partnership with the ELC and provides support in identifying areas for improvement. There are supportive partnerships with local community groups.
This Early Years Officer role will have a clear focus on continuing to lead and deliver high quality learning experiences for our youngest learners and supporting the Early Learning Team within Dechmont Infant School. The successful candidate will follow West Lothian Council policies and will take a leading role in the effective organisation of the Early Learning Centre, working closely in partnership with staff, parents and learners.
This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from commencement in this post to register with the SSSC.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council
