The Property Services unit is responsible for the management of all the council’s property assets and undertakes full range of professional duties. The team consists of professional and technical staff who are responsible for ensuring the council’s property assets are management effectively and efficiently in support of our corporate priorities.

Based within the Strategic Property Asset Management Team, we are seeking to recruit two Group Surveyors who will each lead a small team responsible for performing a range of professional services encountered in the acquisition, disposal, leasing, management or valuation of a wide variety of properties of a commercial and operational nature, supporting both external and internal customers.

Both posts are full-time, permanent positions offering flexible working within a dynamic, client-focused, professional service.

The skills and experience you must have:

  • A degree in Land Economics, Estates Management, Commercial Property Management, Valuation or similar
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
  • Experience of performing a range of the key tasks as described in the job outline with extensive knowledge of property management and development
  • Experience in budget monitoring and control for both organisational and grant/project funding.
  • Good analytical skills with proven ability to work with and interpret numerical data
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience of presenting complex information clearly to a range of audiences
  • Supervision and mentoring of staff
  • Experience of positively negotiating and influencing internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision, as well as an integral part of a small team
  • Experience of co-ordinating and delivering high quality work within tight deadlines
  • Experience of working with contractors and consultants in a service delivery environment
  • Ability to recognise and communicate improvement opportunities for the council
