The Revenues Unit are looking to recruit a Revenues Officer within the Collections Team.
As part of a team, the postholder will work within the legislation and broad framework of council policy, using discretion and initiative where available to ensure the provision of a quality service to customers.
The postholder will ensure that liabilities for Council Tax and Business Rates are accurately assessed and billed and will aim to maximise income to the council through the application of a range of debt recovery processes and procedures, including undertaking visits, in relation to these local taxes as well as Service Accounts. This will involve considerable liaison with a number of outside agencies and members of the public.
A practical knowledge of the relevant legislation and council policies in relation to local government taxes and the benefits scheme, experience in scheduling and prioritising own workloads along with good communication skills and experience of explaining complex information to customers and external agencies by telephone, in writing and in person are essential.
