Main Location: You will be required to run online classes and if on campus classes are running, then you will be required to work at and between any of the college four campuses: Sighthill, Granton, Milton, Midlothian. You could be asked to deliver in schools.

Edinburgh College is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person to take up the exciting post of Lecturer in Computing.

You will be joining a relaxed and supportive team with a driven culture. The role is demanding and requires team members to learn new skills independently to stay ahead of the curriculum and investigate new technologies. The right candidate is likely to have a passion for technology which will be part of their spare time. Most team members have a diverse skill range and able to deliver undergraduate level in their strength area such as Computer Networking but also deliver at Further Education level in programming, Microsoft office skills, and team working.

Our team is supportive to each other with sharing of teaching resources, covering classes in emergencies, and sharing knowledge. Any new member is taken under our collective wing until they find their feet.

In this role you will be responsible for delivering classes from SCQF level 4 to 8 and can cover open learning, evening classes and delivering training to companies.

The computing student profile is diverse with many students requiring additional support with Dyslexia, ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. As a team member you are required to be approachable and offer a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for learning.

Our course profile is one of the most comprehensive in the country and our HND qualifications are predominantly Associate Degrees allowing us to attract talented students from across the region. We are looking for a like-minded team member, someone who is willing to help, get stuck in, keen to learn new technology and share stories and ideas from industry with our students.

Our department holds an Innovation and sharing practice forum and we would be looking for someone who is motivated to innovate in the classroom and share ideas with us.

You must have excellent communication skills and be confident in delivering presentations and learning. You need to build confidence working on your own intuitive to problem solve and be able to work autonomously for your day to day duties. You should possess a high level of computer competency regardless of your specialist skill area. You should hold a Computing Degree or be in your final months of achieving it. If you don’t yet hold a degree, then the job role may be fixed term until you achieve it.

You must hold at least one specialist technical skill at Degree level from the person specification:

· Computer Networking

· Cyber Security

· Software Development

It is desirable to have knowledge of the Scottish FE sector either from teaching or as a student.

· Have a working knowledge of SQA qualifications.

· A TQFE or other teaching qualification

· Vendor certificates such as CISCO, MICROSOFT, ORACLE PALO ALTO, BCS or other
