The Care, Sport & Construction department wish to appoint an enthusiastic Technician to provide technical support appropriate to a range of construction subject areas.

Role
You will co-operate and assist lecturers/other relevant staff in the preparation of classrooms, workshops and workshop demonstrations for a range of construction programmes.  You will demonstrate the correct use of equipment, machinery and techniques as appropriate to the individual’s area of specialism and expertise.  You will provide a repair and maintenance service for appropriate equipment and machinery. You will ensure compliance at all times, with Health and Safety at Work Act and other health and safety regulations and undertake CPD as appropriate to ensure that the specialist skills associated with the post are regularly updated.

Ideally, you will be educated to HNC level in an appropriate subject area as a minimum.  You will be able to work effectively within the technician team, while being able to plan your work schedule around the requests from the associated teaching staff.  To fulfil the full role, you will also need to hold qualifications recognised by the Health & Safety Executive for Domestic ACS Gas, holding the following qualifications, as a minimum CCN1 and CENWAT with CKR1 and HTR1 being desirable but not compulsory.

You will have an understanding of all plumbing systems found within the construction industry. For example Hot & Cold Water Systems, Central Heating Systems, Drainage Systems and Electrical Systems. You will have a sound understanding of construction components for you to be able to keep stock of components and fittings used within the delivery of the qualifications, while being able to generate material orders when necessary.

You will have an understanding of the needs and requirements of a busy college teaching department.  You will be able to work effectively within the technician team, while being able to plan your work schedule around the requests from the associated teaching staff. 

A full clean driving licence is a requirement due to potential cross-campus duties related to the curriculum. Travel between campuses may be required as part of this role.
