Support for Learning Assistant

Full-Time; Permanent; Term-Time Only Position

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and caring Support for Learning Assistant to join our Senior School Support for Learning Department from August 2021. The Support for Learning Assistant is responsible for providing learning support in the Heriot’s Senior School, both within the classroom and for wider activities involving pupils.

The Support for Learning Department at Heriot’s has seen significant development in recent years and enjoys an excellent reputation, which reaches beyond the School itself. The Department currently consists of the Head of Support for Learning, Junior & Senior School Support for Learning Coordinators and a small team of full and part time SfL teachers. The school also benefits from a part-time Educational Psychologist.

The successful candidate will be joining a high achieving and successful department and other teams of staff who are dedicated to providing the best for all our young people. They will have a patient manner and a proven capacity to establish positive relationships with children and young people.

Experience of working with children and young people with additional support needs and an interest in their development is essential.

Hours: 8.00am – 4.30pm; Mondays to Thursday and 8.00am – 4.00pm; Friday (37 hours per week) – term-time only.

Salary: Please note that for the first year, the actual salary for this role will be £18,164- £20,307 (pro-rata based on term-time only contract)
