Glasgow Caledonian University is a vibrant, multi-cultural and modern university in the centre of Glasgow, and is placed amongst the top 70 universities globally (THE Impact rankings, 2021). Our welcoming community of 20,000 students, from more than 100 countries, enjoy a wide range of award-winning support services and state of the art facilities across each of our campuses in Glasgow, London and New York. Our University mission - with its commitment to the Common Good and core values of integrity, creativity, responsibility and confidence - is integral to everything we do.
In partnership with Glasgow City Council (GCC), The Advanced Higher Hub was established as part of the GCU Outreach team in 2013 to complement and supplement the provision of Advanced Highers. The Hub is jointly funded by the SFC and GCC.
In 2021-22, the Hub will further extend its reach in a pilot project to deliver Advanced Highers in a blended learning model with Dumfries and Galloway Council. We are therefore looking to appoint an Academic Progression and Blended Learning Manager on a fixed term basis until end July 2022 to work with the Head of GCU Outreach and the Pastoral and Administration Manager.
The postholder will lead the day-to-day operational management of the Advanced Higher Hub, with oversight of curricula development, coordination of SQA policy and practice, development of blended learning and teaching pedagogy, and academic progression and transition of Hub pupils. The Academic Progression and Blended Learning Manager will work closely with the Administration and Pastoral Care Manager and the Head of GCU Outreach to ensure delivery of all elements of academic programmes, and Hub policy and practice.
The successful applicant will be degree educated and have a relevant Post-Graduate qualification in an education related field. Experience of project management and a sound understanding of the widening participation agenda in HE is essential. Experience of training academic staff/teachers on blended learning pedagogy and practice are key requirements for the role alongside experience of working with pupils or students in a transition support project.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Hub team in 21-22, as we continue to develop our blended learning model to deliver Advanced Highers to Glasgow and Dumfries and Galloway.
