The Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences is located within the School of Health & Life Sciences, and dedicated to understanding cell, molecular and systems biology and clinical diagnosis of disease and treatments and advancing this knowledge through research and teaching. We offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including our Institute of Biomedical Science accredited Applied Biomedical Science programme, and Royal Society for Biology accredited Biological Sciences and Pharmacology programmes. As part of the Research Centre for Health, we have an active and diverse portfolio of research activities that aim to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying a number of long term conditions, to aid public health and develop novel therapies for treatment of these and associated conditions.

We are seeking to appoint an energetic and inventive individual to provide short-term cover for a colleague on maternity leave. The role is 2.5 days per week for 12 months. The individual will be expected to contribute to the delivery of learning, teaching and assessment on our portfolio of academic programmes. The successful candidate will be a scientist, preferably with a PhD and specialist knowledge in microbiology and/or virology. The candidate should have teaching experience at HE level and a strong interest in developing teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
