Glasgow Kelvin College is the key provider of accessible vocational and core-skills learning in the north and east of the city. We deliver high-quality introductory to degree-level programmes to around 15,000 students each year from four campus buildings and through a large network of community-based centres. Engaging with communities which experience high levels of deprivation, the College works with partners to create inclusive progression opportunities in a vibrant and sustainable environment for the learners, communities and stakeholders which we serve.

As part of the Foundation Apprentice Team the School Engagement Lead will be responsible for the engagement and relationship management of secondary schools across Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire and East Renfrewshire with a view to securing their commitment to the foundation apprenticeship programme.

The post will be based at Glasgow Kelvin College and will work with schools across the local authority areas.

We need you to be able to:

ensure the effective engagement of schools, local authority partners, pupils, parents, carers and other relevant stakeholders throughout the duration of the programme with specific regards to the foundation apprenticeship programme; ensure that foundation apprenticeships are offered as an option for S5 pupils; plan and participate in marketing and promotion events aimed at securing school support for the programme; be accountable for achieving an agreed number of pupil participants; monitor and report retention of pupils on the programme and will work with pupils, parents, carers and schools to ensure retention to the end of the programme; and ensure an effective link is in place with existing schools engagement activity across the regional colleges.

You should be educated to HND (SCQF Level 8) or equivalent and have demonstratable knowledge of Skills development and current government policy in relation to The agenda for social inclusion and developing the young workforce and Further and Higher Education.

You will have the following Skills and Competencies:

· Analysing, solving problems and implementing change;

· Ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines to the satisfaction of all parties;

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively; and

· Excellent ICT skills with the ability to produce coherent, well-structured documents.

You will have experience in:

· Client management in target driven environment;

· Successful marketing of programmes;

· Experience of delivering work based learning and education programmes;

· Experience of working with local authorities and other relevant partners; and

· Engaging with young people, parents and carers.

You will also have a driving licence and access to own car or be able to travel as required to schools and partners across the local authority areas.
