We are looking for a highly professional, enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team. You will support delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Biological science/bioscience.
You will have a PhD in Biological Science, primarily molecular biology or physiology/anatomy. You will be expected to have experience in standard in vitro/ex vivo techniques.
You will be expected to contribute to the teaching and administration of the School’s undergraduate degrees (Biomedical Science, Bioscience and Pharmacy), as well as other relevant undergraduate and postgraduate courses. You will complement existing research/teaching activities in the above area within the school.
You will be encouraged to develop your own research in conjunction with other members of the School.
Salary on appointment will be dependent upon experience.
Candidates with limited/no lecturing experience will be placed on the first point of the scale, although consideration will be given to a market supplement (reviewed bi-annually) for those with specific industry experience.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of School
PURPOSE OF POST: This post is required primarily to support delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Biological Science. The successful applicant will be expected to develop their own, high quality research as part of this appointment. Some additional inter-professional support within the other undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the School may be required.
Deliver teaching in biological science and related areas in collaboration with the Academic Strategic lead and module/course leaders. Contribute to the teaching and assessment of biological science skills in an academic and laboratory environment.
Contribute to the development of teaching and assessment in Biological Science as part of a team.
Develop high quality research in alignment with the School portfolio.
Utilise technology to support and enhance learning.
Be responsible for Health and Safety requirement for staff and students within the laboratories.
Assist in planning of laboratory practical exercises and effective utilisation of resources.
Undertake appropriate professional development.
Assists in the supervision and visiting of students during their periods of work experience.
Promotes and market the School and its courses to local, national and international clientele (including student recruitment).
Perform other duties as assigned by the Academic Strategic lead or Head of School.
Qualifications and Professional Memberships
• First Degree and PhD in Biological Science, or related field.
• Knowledge of learning and teaching approaches related to molecular/cellular biology and/or physiology.
• Experience of teaching and assessing topics in molecular/cellular biology and/or physiology, or related disciplines
• Experience of independent research in biological science, or a related area (including publication in high-impact, peer reviewed publications).
• Experience of ongoing professional development
Qualifications and Professional Memberships
Membership of appropriate Professional Bodies and/or of the Higher Education Academy
• Evidence of relevant post-doctoral study and experience of independent grant success
