Due to the retirement of the current post holder after 28 years, a very exciting and unique opportunity has arisen in Rossie for the senior position of Head of Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning.

As CEO I am looking for a senior leader who is ambitious, corporate and committed to integrated cross sectoral working, with a minimum 5 years’ experience in a Senior or Middle management role. As Head of Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of high quality learning and teaching which meets the need of all pupils, across both the broad general and senior phases of Scottish Education. Additionally, the post holder will have the responsibility for continuity of learning with respect to the English and Welsh based curriculum. You will also lead quality assurance measures to plan, develop and monitor the continuous improvement of both our residential and secure care schools, and implement local and national objectives. You will lead the development of a Parental Involvement Strategy, as well as Homework Strategy for both schools.

As a dynamic leader, you will empower and develop your staff, and improve the life chances of our young people through GIRFEC and the Curriculum for Excellence. You will be the key decision maker in how the curriculum is designed and provided in both our residential and secure care schools. There will be the requirement to further develop our curricular approaches around LGBTI principles and UNCRC and The Promise. We want to increase our work based skills for all pupils to enhance their employment opportunities.

The preferred candidate must have a preparedness to develop and learn in line with organisational and role requirements.

You will report directly to the CEO and be an ambassador for Rossie. You will be the key point of contact with our HMIe Inspector, will engage in local, regional and national fora and represent the organisation to the highest standards at all times.
