The School of Education at the University of Strathclyde is the largest provider of Teacher Education in Scotland. We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow in Geography on an open (continuing) contract to work with students on our undergraduate and postgraduate Education courses.
The post holder will contribute to our Geography and Sustainable Development Education provision in terms of overarching issues, as well as on delivery of PGDE (Secondary) Geography. There is an expectation that the post holder will also have a key role in Outdoor Education input. The role will include delivery of on campus classes and carrying out placement assessments.
The post involves designing and delivering teaching materials, assessing students on campus and while on placement, engaging in scholarship projects and disseminating the results through knowledge exchange activities.
Candidates will have recent Geography classroom experience, including evidence of managing, developing and implementing recent curricular change and Scottish Government strategic initiatives at school level. Candidates will have excellent knowledge of recent developments in Scottish Education and recent experience of working with and supporting students and probationer teachers. It is essential that candidates hold full registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, or are eligible to register prior to taking up post.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate a successful track record of professional experience of Geography teaching in the secondary school context.
