The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Driving Instructor based in one of our Service Training Centres at Cambuslang, Newbridge or Portlethen.   This is a full time opportunity, working 35 hours per week.


The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of driving instruction to all uniformed and support personnel as directed and to assist in the formulation, planning and preparation of current/new driver training courses.


Applicants should have previous experience of delivering driver or driver related training, together with evidence of delivering technical and practical training.


Applicants are required to have current Category C Driving Licence (Minimum 3 Years), IT Skills with an ability to use Microsoft PowerPoint and Office packages. 


It is desirable that applicants have/are: ROSPA diploma award, Emergency Response Driving Instructor, SQA A1 Assessor (L+D 9DI), SVA V1 Verifier (L+D11) and DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) LGV Register or Equivalent.


Applicants will need to be able to travel throughout the SFRS area, deliver training out with the training centre dependant on course requirements.  Applicants will be required to carry out occasional weekend and evening work that may include a requirement to reside overnight.  You will be required to plan and deliver LGV or specialist training and evaluate service personnel on their suitability to drive Service vehicles in accordance with Service policy and standards.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements.  A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
