Driving Instructor
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Driving Instructor based at Portlethen Training Centre on a permanent basis.
This is a full time post working 35 hours per week however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of driving instruction to all uniformed and support personnel as directed and to assist in the formulation, planning and preparation of current and new driver / training courses.
Essential criteria for the role includes Clean Current Category C Driving Licence (Min 3 years), DVSA LGV Register or equivalent. IT skills, with the ability to operate Microsoft PowerPoint and office packages. Experience of delivering driver and/or driver related training and evidence of delivering technical and practical training. Desirable criteria for the role includes ROSPA diploma award, Emergency Response Driving Instructor, SQA A1 Assessor (L+D9DI), SVQ V1 Verifier ( L+D11), Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).
The post will be based at the Service Training Centre in the North Service Delivery Area but flexibility for delivery exists dependent on course requirements. The successful candidate will be required to travel throughout the Scottish Fire and Rescue Area and to carry out occasional weekend and evening work which may include a requirement to reside overnight. You will be required to plan and deliver LGV or specialist driver training and evaluate Service Personnel on their suitability to drive Service Vehicles in accordance with Service Policy and Standards.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
This post is subject to the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exemptions) Scotland Order 2013. The successful candidate will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme and will be required to carry out regulated work with adults.
