The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Fire Safety Auditing Officer based at Hamilton (South Lanarkshire Prevention and Protection Office) on a permanent basis. This is a full time opportunity, working 35 hours per week however, applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.
As Auditing Officer, you will conduct audits, inspections and surveys in line with the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and will generate reports and notices as appropriate. Previous experience of conducting, recording and processing the results or outcomes of technical work such as audits and risk assessments and producing written reports in good time and to a high standard is essential.
Applicants require to have a current, valid driving licence. A working knowledge of Microsoft Packages, in particular Word and Excel, in addition experience of report writing and the recording and processing of results and outcomes of technical work such as audits and risk assessment, is essential.
Knowledge of current fire safety legislation including Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006 is desirable as is previous experience of carrying out fire safety inspections or equivalent and a recognised qualification in Fire Safety or Health and Safety.
Applicants require to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a flexible approach, the ability to follow instructions and work unsupervised and the ability to work well as part of a team.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
