The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service became operational on 1 April 2013 and is the largest fire and rescue service in the UK and the fourth largest in the world. As the risks we face are changing, we have embarked on a transformation strategy to deliver a modern, flexible and efficient fire and rescue service to better meet the changing risks now facing Scotland.
A number of opportunities are available for a confident HR professional to join our friendly, busy team as an HR Business Partner.
HR Positive Action & Engagement – As part of this team, your areas of responsibility will focus on the scoping, shaping and implementation of positive action initiatives to promote SFRS as an employer of choice to Scotland’s diverse communities.
This is a temporary opportunity to cover a period of maternity leave of up to 1 year.
HR Reward & Benefits – Working within this team, your areas of responsibility will focus on the delivery of standardised terms and conditions, job analysis and evaluation and the development and enhancement of the total reward framework.
This is a temporary opportunity to cover a temporary promotion for a period of 6 months.
The ideal candidates will already be an experienced HR Generalist / Business Partner, qualified to degree level or with equivalent knowledge gained through relevant experience in the working environment. They must also possess Associate membership of the CIPD as well as have an ongoing commitment to their own CPD. Previous experience within the arena of positive action and / or reward experience or knowledge of the Scottish Councils Job Evaluation Scheme would be advantageous.
Applicants must be able to communicate effectively and have confidence in their ability to influence a range of stakeholders and in being able to exercise judgement to inform effective decision making. Knowledge of current and emerging legislation relevant to employment matters is essential as is experience of developing and implementing HR policies and procedures. Proficient in the use Microsoft Office packages, applicants must have experience of gathering and analysing data and information and the preparation of reports. Candidates must possess a current full driving licence; have the ability to travel and have the flexibility needed to support an emergency Service.
Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
