The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Hydrant Operative, based in West Service Delivery Area on a permanent basis, covering hydrant operative duties in Argyll & Bute, East & West Dunbartonshire, Stirling & Clackmannanshire LSO Areas.  This is a full-time opportunity, working 35 hours per week however, applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share, or flexible working basis would be considered.


The post holder will be required to work cohesively but remotely within the Water Planning Department to carry out routine inspection and maintenance of fire hydrants, liaising closely with service delivery personnel.  They will also plan their daily work routines to meet the inspection schedule for hydrants providing accurate and timely records of outcomes.


Candidates must hold a current valid driving licence, have knowledge of vehicle maintenance and experience of using small hand tools. Candidates will also have basic IT skills and be able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills. It is also essential for candidates to demonstrate a flexible approach to work and the ability to maintain accurate records.


This post may occasionally require an overnight stay at other locations.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements.  A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
