The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of ICT Senior Engineer (Network/Comms Cyber Security) based at any one of our ICT locations (Dundee Asset Resource Centre, Cambuslang, Hamilton, Newbridge or Johnstone), on a permanent basis. This is a full-time opportunity, working 35 hours per week, however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.

 

The successful candidate will be required to support the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all ICT network and communication systems in use across the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS). This includes corporate, telephone and mobilisation networks, and all associated systems.  Working within the Technical Strategy Team, this role will require the candidate to provide support to the ICT Architect (Cyber Security), and the wider team(s) to ensure that all ICT network and communications systems meet the required levels of Cyber Assurance.  

 

This highly technical role has responsibility to support implementation of technical controls required to protect the ICT network and communication systems being utilised across the service.  The post contributes to SFRS’s critical assured approach to the ever-challenging areas of Cyber Security and helps achieve the high level of compliance required of a National Emergency Services Organisation.

 

Candidates are required to have previous extensive technical experience in the development, implementation, monitoring, support and optimisation of mobilisation, telephony, cloud, local and wide area networks and their associated systems.  They also require extensive technical experience in the development, implementation, monitoring, support and optimisation of communications and electronic devices and equipment.  Experience of contributing to the development, improvement and implementation of ICT security policies and standards is also essential.

 

Candidates are required to have an HND in an ICT related discipline or equivalent experience and also Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) accreditation or equivalent.  They also require to have the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) V3 Foundation certification and the successful candidate would be expected to achieve Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) qualification within 6 months of appointment if not already qualified.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements.  A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.

This post is also subject to the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exemptions) Scotland Order 2013. Therefore, the successful candidate's will be subject to a Standard Disclosure record check through Disclosure Scotland.
