The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) would like to invite applications for the post of Physiotherapist with the ability to deliver physiotherapy services with a digital first approach and within SFRS Hubs across Scotland on occasion. This is a 2-year fixed term opportunity, working 35 hours per week, the base location will be decided in agreement with the successful candidate. The SFRS Health and Wellbeing Department provide occupational health and fitness services to approximately 7000 staff. Our workforce profile covers a range of staff groups including Operational Firefighters, Control and Support staff and each staff group has a distinct health and wellbeing requirement to help safely carry out their roles. The role will involve a positive bio-psychosocial approach with evidence-based treatment, underpinned by excellent health and wellbeing care to SFRS employees focussed on education and prevention of musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries. The physical and mental health and wellbeing of our staff is a key people priority for our Service and why we are currently recruiting an experienced Physiotherapist to support delivery of an MSK injury prevention and rehabilitation service that supports a positive health and wellbeing culture within SFRS. We propose to transform and develop our Health and Wellbeing team and deliver a multi-layered holistic service supporting staff throughout their employee experience and helping to make the SFRS a great place to work.

 

This is a full-time post however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.

 

The Physiotherapist is responsible for supporting the development and provision of effective Health and Wellbeing (HW) Physiotherapy Services within the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS). The role will provide a holistic physiotherapy service to SFRS employees focused on education and prevention of MSK injuries. This will involve a positive bio-psychosocial approach with evidence-based treatment, underpinned by excellent HW care to SFRS employees focused on treatment, education and prevention of musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries.

 

The post holder is responsible to the Physiotherapy Practitioner (HW) and expected to work collaboratively with others to support organisational and departmental objectives.

 

Applicants will be required to:

  • Hold BSc (Hons) recognised by the (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy) CSP.
  • Abide by (Health and Care Professions Council) HCPC and CSP Codes of Professional Conduct, and work in line with all areas of CSP Core Standards of Practice, as well as our policies and procedural framework.
  • Have effective communication skills and the ability to influence a range of stakeholders
  • Proven track record of development and implementation of physiotherapy services, delivery of individualised treatment programmes based upon evidence-based practice.
  • Knowledge of current Health and Safety and other relevant emerging legislation and clinical guidance
  • The ability to work on own initiative, exercise judgement to inform decision making
  • Effective communication skills
  • Effective planning and organisational skills working knowledge of MS Office, spreadsheets, databases and management systems
  • Experience of problem solving in an analytical manner, identifying sensible and proportionate solutions
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, spreadsheets, databases and management systems
  • The post holder is required to attain and maintain PVG Scheme membership in relation to carrying out regulated work with protected adults
  • Have the ability to travel

The base location will be decided in agreement with the successful candidate. The post will follow a home working digital first approach, however travel will be necessary across the SFRS footprint to support face to face consultations and other work-related business or meetings. Your contractual hours 0845 - 1645 Monday to Thursday; Friday 0845 to 1530, however flexible working may be required on the occasion.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements.  A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.

 

This post is subject to the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exemptions) Scotland Order 2013. The successful candidate will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme and will be required to carry out regulated work with adults.
