The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Vocational Apprenticeship Co-ordinator, based in Cambuslang on a permanent basis.


This is a full-time post, working 35 hours per week, however, we are flexible regarding working patterns, and we are open to considering both full-time and part-time applications. The role is based between your home address and the nearest SFRS Headquarters location.


The successful individual will support the provision of our Modern Apprenticeships and SVQ pathways across the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. This will require engagement across HR and Organisational Development, Training and Service Delivery colleagues to support and embed all areas of apprenticeship and SVQ programme activity. The Vocational Apprenticeship Co-ordinator will ensure that systems and processes are both compliant and effectively established/developed, and will also be responsible for coordinating and monitoring data across the programmes, acting as a coach to assessors and verifiers.


Previous experience of managing SQA programme delivery and assessment is essential to the role. Applicants are also required to possess L&D 9D1 Assessor and L&D 11 Verifier Award qualifications (or equivalent) and be competent in the use and assessment of National Occupational Standards. The successful individual will be experienced in the development and delivery of training courses, a creative problem-solver, have excellent attention to detail and be highly competent in the use of Microsoft Officer (Excel, Powerpoint, Word). A current driving licence and an ability to travel through Scotland is also required.


Experience of developing and delivering Assessor & Verifier training programmes, and a knowledge and experience of SQA Registration, Entry and Result Procedures is desirable, but not essential.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements.  A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.


This post is also subject to the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exemptions) Scotland Order 2013. Therefore, the successful candidate's will be subject to a Standard Disclosure record check through Disclosure Scotland.
