Asbestos Officer (Temp) Argyll & Bute

£29,464 - £34,663 per annum 35 hours per week


The ACHA Group has recently created a new post of temporary Asbestos Officer. The main function of this role is to review the effectiveness of management arrangements and procedures to ensure compliance with all legislation, delegated duties and Association policy, to review existing data to ensure it is robust and accurate and to ensure the accurate recording of all asbestos related documents in a new temporary system.


The main objectives of this post are to ensure compliance through the gathering of data from contractor KPI’s, site visits, certification checking and ensuring contractual compliance in relation to asbestos whilst ensuring that a holistic approach to maintaining our assets is taken.


The post holder will assist the Association to discharge their relevant duties and responsibilities under various Health & Safety Acts, Regulations and all relevant Codes of Safe Working Practice and policies.


The successful candidate will have worked within a similar role previously, will have ideas about how to modernise our service, utilising systems where appropriate. You will be a hands-on officer with the ability to demonstrate excellent customer care skills.


You will have excellent IT skills and competent using excel, Word, running reports and the ability to accurately update databases.


This role will primarily focus on the management of the Asbestos and our asbestos database so an understanding of asbestos and asbestos awareness would be an advantage. The post holder may be asked to assist in other areas of compliance within the organisation.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential.


With the wide-spread nature of Argyll and Bute there will be an element of travelling involved in this post. The post holder therefore requires to be prepared to travel and work in other areas of Argyll and Bute and needs to hold a full UK driving licence along with having access to a vehicle which is insured for business use.


This post requires also requires the successful candidate to undergo a basic Disclosure Scotland check
