Employability Worker (Project Worker) Edinburgh/East Lothian

Barnardo's Works is an employability programme working in partnership with associated employers to provide young people aged 16-24 with a unique blend of personal support and accredited training, matched with quality work experience and the opportunity for sustainable, independent employment.

The Edinburgh/East Lothian service is an established and growing service delivering an Employability Programme across both areas.

Our core delivery areas are:

  • Employability Fund – supporting young people to obtain employability related qualifications and work experience opportunities with local employers in a wide range of settings
  • Discovering your Potential – This funding supports Care Experienced Young People over a period of up to one year
  • Fit for Work – A fun programme using fitness activities to engage with young people
  • Barnardo's Best – an ESIF programme that supports young people to take their first steps towards employment

We are seeking an Employability Worker to be based within our Edinburgh/East Lothian service who is committed and motivated to achieve the best outcomes for our young persons, enabling them to overcome a range of barriers and to help them achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Proven knowledge of the barriers young people face in moving towards employment or further training
  • Knowledge or awareness of SQA Employability awards such as Steps to Work or the Certificate for Work Readiness
  • Ability to support young people to complete assessment and develop action plans on a 1-1 basis
  • Experience of delivering training to small groups of individuals
  • Experience of working with young people in an informal environment
  • Demonstrate that they have the employability skills to support individuals to apply for jobs or further training (CV, Interview, job Search and college applications, Etc.)

Supplementary Information

Travel

  • Ability & willingness to undertake independent regular travel – access to a car and or a UK driving licence may be an essential. (Where appropriate reasonable adjustments will be considered for candidates covered by the Equality Act who are unable to obtain a driving licence)

Salary

It is anticipated the appointment will be at the mid-point of the scale for the right candidate in line with local market rates.

  • Proven knowledge of the barriers young people face in moving towards employment or further training

  • Experience of creating and maintaining up to date records

Although this contract has a permanent status, please be aware that this post is subject to funding currently to 31st March 2022 and therefore should this funding not be extended further, you may be subject to a redundancy consultation or a TUPE arrangement.
