COSLA is looking for a member of staff to work as a Suicide Prevention Lead Officer for a fixed period of 12months in the first instance – this is suitable for secondment opportunities.
With minimum supervision, and demonstrating sound judgement in approach, the successful candidate will work with local community planning partnerships to identify and develop local suicide prevention action plans which are evidence led and reflect lived experience from people in the community.
The postholder will be expected to have political acumen, the ability to take ownership of issues and manage a programme of work, show consistent application of personal initiative, with a drive to see matters through to successful conclusion.
The post-holder will be expected to deal with senior politicians from Local, Scottish and UK Government, as well as senior representatives of public, private and third sector organisations. COSLA is looking for a proactive and motivated individual. We need someone who is able to work in a high-pressure environment, to tight timescales and who can demonstrate the ability to prioritise their workload. The post is covered by COSLA’s flexitime arrangements.
