An opportunity has now arisen for the post of Depute Assessor & Electoral Registration Officer (ERO).
The Assessor & ERO is responsible for valuing non-domestic properties for rating, allocating dwellings to council tax bands and maintaining the Electoral Register.
The Depute Assessor & ERO will support the Assessor in carrying out his functions across Grampian and have specific responsibility for the Aberdeenshire Council area.
The post holder will be a statutory depute for the purposes of the Valuation Acts and the Representation of the People Acts. The post holder will deputise for the Assessor & ERO and be responsible for implementation of the provisions of the Lands Valuation (Scotland) Acts, the Local Government Finance Act 1992 and the Representation of the People Acts. Candidates must be either a Professional Member or Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and should possess a comprehensive understanding of the law and practice of valuation for rating and council tax valuation. Previous experience in these areas of professional practice is essential as well as a high level of communication, negotiation and managerial skills.
